Configuring vlan on Cisco Catalyst 3560

The objective to create 2 vlans. Vlan 151 as the port that will connect to the netmodem and vlan 90 as the port that connects to Cisco IP Phone 7940.

Telnet into Cisco Catalyst 3560 by using putty or any telnet tool of your choice. Enter the IP address (192.168.1.25 in my case) of the switch then click on open.

Enter the administration password for Cisco Catalyst 3560 (assuming that the switch has already been configured)

Once you have the prompt for the switch type enable then hit enter.

Enter the password for IOS to enter the configuration mode.

From this point you may enter the IOS commands below for the configuration.

To return an interface to its default configuration, use the default interface interface-id interface configuration command.
This example shows how to configure a port as an access port in VLAN 2:
Switch# configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/1

Switch(config-if)# switchport mode access

Switch(config-if)# switchport access vlan 2

Switch(config-if)# end

House bill penalizes spanking kids

As a kid I grow up and experienced spanking as part of the discipline. I could still remember when Lolo (grandpa) would whip us with long guava stick together with my siblings. Now we have this law that prohibits us (as parent) to discipline our kids. . .

MANILA, Philippines -- A House committee has approved in principle a bill that would make it a crime for anybody to ridicule or even pinch errant children.

The House committees on revision of laws and the welfare of children, chaired by Representatives Giorgidi B. Aggabao (4th District, Isabela) and Monica Prieto-Teodoro (1st District, Tarlac) respectively, have approved in principle a bill penalizing corporal punishment for children.

House Bill 682, authored by Prieto-Teodoro, prohibits “all corporal punishment and all other forms of humiliating or degrading punishment of children in homes, schools and other places.”

She said the bill defined the crime “as a punishment or penalty for an offense or imagined offense, acts carried out for the purpose of discipline, training or control, inflicted by an adult who has been given or has assumed authority or responsibility for punishment or discipline.”

“As a lawmaker and as parent, I cannot imagine hitting children as lawful while we believe it is against the law to hit other adults, prisoners, and even animals,” Prieto-Teodoro said in a statement.

Aggabao said children should not be “slapped, kicked, burned, choked, beaten, pinched, whipped, have their ears twisted, threatened, terrorized, ridiculed, cursed, and belittled because they behaved badly, disobeyed their parents or the authorities, failed to perform tasks or chores to the satisfaction of adults or because they did not listen to what the adults tell them.”

Gone and forgotten...not really

That was 14 years ago when Windows 95 became popular and technology changed from then onwards. Then yesterday the Boss showed up in the IT Office bringing his copy of Windows 95. He said he wanted a machine that has Windows 95 on it because he has this game which he bought that would only run on this platform. I was surprised I never expect that I would be building a machine with Windows 95 as the operating system. Then I started to recall on how to do it. The CD is not bootable so I have to download a boot cd for Windows 95 then check some forums. It says that Windows 95 cannot be installed on newer machines. It can only run on machines with Pentium 1 or lower architectures 486 or 386). So the only option I have right now is to do a virtualization using virtualbox. Hopefully the Boss would hand me over this game and will try to run it via compatibility mode on Windows XP.
